The Hidden Architecture of Spring: The Sour Cherry Blossom in Detail
The morphological examination of a sour cherry blossom (Prunus cerasus) requires optical systems capable of rendering the finest structures with meticulous detail. Our photograph demonstrates how modern camera technology and classical microscopy work together seamlessly, precisely revealing the blossom's key features: The finest structures, such as the pistil, specifically the sticky stigma at the tip and the underlying stylus, become visible.
The Technical Setup:
To achieve this imaging performance, an Olympus SZX10 stereo microscope was combined with a Sony Alpha 7CR (full-frame hybrid camera) via the LMscope DD2XZ42VAR adapter. Thanks to the integrated precision optics of our adapter, the image is projected directly onto the high-resolution sensor of the Sony camera without any loss of quality. This enables first-class image and video quality that meets the highest professional documentation standards.
