LM digital adapters combined with the Zeiss Axiostar plus – easy handling for great images!
The Zeiss Axiostar plus is a versatile microscope that is suitable for many areas of application: medical practices, laboratories, universities, training centres, etc. Depending on its configuration, the Axiostar plus offers the following contrasting methods: bright field, dark field, phase contrast, polarisation contrast and fluorescence contrast.
With the help of our LM digital adapters, a camera can be attached to the microscope either via the 30mm eyepiece tube or the photo tube. DSLR cameras and system cameras are ideally suited for microscopy. They can be controlled from a computer and deliver excellent image quality. The Zeiss Axiostar plus also features a number of ergonomic advantages: the ergo baseplate can be adjusted to 16 different positions, the stage drive is ergonomic, and height and drive friction are adjustable.
Several different tube options are available: a 45 degree binocular tube, a 30 degree ICS (infinity colour-corrected system) binocular photo tube or an ICS dual tube. The dual tube enables two observers to work simultaneously.
The objective turret with top-quality Zeiss ICS optics offers a choice of 5 objective positions. Thanks to the combination of objective and tube lenses, even the intermediate image is corrected (this is also referred to as an “infinity-corrected optical system”), which ensures that the camera and eyepiece image are equally good. A 20 W halogen lamp provides Köhler illumination.
The photo tube of the microscope generally has an internal diameter of 30mm. Used in conjunction with our LM digital adapters, modern camera systems (DSLR or mirrorless system cameras) can be attached to the Zeiss Axiostar plus in no time at all and with highly satisfactory results.
Even if your Zeiss Axiostar does not have a photo tube, you can still attach a camera to the microscope by using one of the two eyepiece tubes. The optical performance and image quality are equally good with both solutions, but connecting a camera via the dedicated photo tube is much more convenient than using one of the eyepieces.

Modern DSLR and single-lens mirrorless (DSLM) offer the latest technology and are generally very well suited for microscopy applications. Most of them can be controlled remotely via PC/Mac. Because of their high sales volumes, they offer an excellent price/performance ratio compared to special-purpose microscope cameras.
