New SLR widefield microscope adapter with plan achromatic precision optics and C-mount connection

We have developed a new universal adapter solution for modern high-quality microscopes which is more powerful and incredibly flexible. With our new compact LM camera adapter with built-in precision optics, large-sensor cameras – such as digital mirrorless system cameras, DSLR cameras, special-purpose microscope cameras, high-speed cameras, industrial cameras or C-mount cameras – can be attached to a microscope in a few quick and easy steps.

Professional LM microscope wide field adapter, large field of view, highest resolution and light intensity

With a lens diameter of more than 23 mm, the light collecting power of this adapter solution is significantly greater than that of comparable products. Compared to conventional adapter solutions offered by competitors, the exposure time can be halved. This translates into considerable advantages, particularly in the case of specialised imaging methods such as fluorescence microscopy.

LM wide field adapter, optical factor 1.9x, on the microscope phototube, C-mount connection

The LM adapter solution uses widefield optics with a factor of 1.9x. This enables the camera to capture a very large field of view without any peripheral darkening. If the microscope eyepieces also have widefield lenses, the total magnification of both systems is approximately the same.

Our adapter solution is compatible with state-of-the-art DSLR cameras, mirrorless system cameras or special-purpose microscope cameras with sensor formats from Micro Four Thirds (MFT) to full-frame. We also offer bayonet adapters for a wide range of cameras.

In addition, the adapter is focusable and enables an optical alignment of the image observed through the eyepieces with the image the camera sees through the phototube.

The adapter unit comes with a filter holder with a 37 mm internal thread as standard.

This allows easy integration of optical filters (polarising filters, colour filters, UV blocking filters, etc.).

LM microscope adapter for phototube C-mount connection and eyepiece connection

The adapter solution has a C-mount connection and can also be attached to eyepiece tubes with an internal diameter of 30 mm. To get the best possible image quality and field of view, it is important to have a standardised C-mount connection with a factor of 1x (i.e. without built-in reduction optics). We can offer this type of C-mount connection for a large variety of microscopes.

Fitting the microscope to digital single-lens reflex (DSLR), mirrorless interchangeable-lens cameras (MILC ), digital single-lens mirrorless (DSLM) or C-mount cameras is easy with our LM digital SLR adapters, which feature a plan achromatic optical system. Our products make it possible to capture top-quality microscope images. To help you select the adapter that is right for your camera, we have set up an online configurator on our website. You can also email us – ideally with attached photographs of your microscope.

Modern DSLR and single-lens mirrorless (DSLM) offer the latest technology and are generally very well suited for microscopy applications. Most of them can be controlled remotely via PC/Mac. Because of their high sales volumes, they offer an excellent price/performance ratio compared to special-purpose microscope cameras.

Features of top DSLR and single-lens mirrorless cameras (DSLM):
- Large, powerful full-frame sensors (36 x 24 mm)
- Sensor resolution of 61 megapixels or 240 megapixels with Pixel Shift technology
- High light sensitivity (ISO 400,000+)
- Extensive dynamic range (up to 15 aperture stops/f-stops)
- Short exposure times (1/8000 second) up to 1/32,000 seconds using the digital shutter
- 4K Ultra HD  or 8K Ultra HD video function
- Live video capture on external monitors in ultra HD quality

In most cases, these cameras are significantly more powerful than microscope cameras with smaller sensors (1/2" or 2/3"). On our website you will find our current camera recommendations and a camera ranking which is specifically tailored to microscopy applications.
